Tool Hire - Account & Payment

If you are a new customer you will need to create an online account before hiring tools for the first time. This is a simple process and involves an online credit check, registering your payment details and paying a security deposit. You only need to go through this process once, as soon as you are a hire customer you can add to your fleet any time you like.

Our minimum initial hire term is 30 days, after this period your hire contract will continue until you choose to off-hire your tools.

We are currently only able to hire to customers in the UK

The first time you hire tools you will need to undergo a credit check and pay a security deposit. You can do this online by creating an account and then selecting 'Credit Check'. You will then need to upload identification document, see below, and register a credit or debit card for your future payments. When your credit check is complete, normally within 48 hours, we will advise you of the security deposit you'll need to pay, this will be £200-£500. You can then log on, pay your deposit and hire your tools. You'll only need to go thorough this process the first time you hire, after this you can add to your hire fleet at any time.

Hiring as an Individual

If you hiring as an individual, not as a Limited Company, you will need to upload 2 forms if I.D (1 piece of photo ID and 1 Utility Bill). We will then credit check you based on Experian referencing and Electoral Roll information.

Hiring as an Limited Company

If you are applying on behalf of a limited company then we do not require ID to be uploaded, however credit checks will still be used to confirm credit limit and liability.

The minimum hire period for tools is 30 days. Tools are charged on a daily rate and your account is payable in arrears. At the end of the first month you will be emailed an invoice for the number of days you have had your tools in that first month. Payment will be taken from your nominated debit or credit card 28 days later.

Following this, you will be invoiced at the end of each month for a full month's hire. The payment will be taken on the 28th of the following month from the card used to make the initial payment.

After the initial 30 days you can choose to off-hire your tools, just let us know. You will be then charged for the number of days the tools were on hire in the final month. The hire contract terminates on the day you hand your tools over to our courier for collection.

Your online account allows you to view the tools you have on hire, book in an exchange for a faulty tool, off-hire, or add more tools to your fleet. You can also view your pricing and payment details or update your personal information all in real-time.

If you have your own tools and they are not working to their best, you can book them into our Gyproc Tool Hire workshop where our trained technicians will provide a professional repair or service to keep you at the top of your game.

Tool Hire - Delivery & Returns

Hire tools will be delivered and collected by our own courier service and charges for delivery, returns and exchanges are included in your tool hire price. If you order before 2pm we'll get your tools to you the next working day*. If you would like your tools delivered to you at a specific time of day, or at the weekend, we can offer that service for a small charge at check out.

Tool Hire exchanges are free as part of your hire contract. To exchange a faulty tool, log onto your online account, select the tool(s) you need to exchange and we will be in touch to arrange a collection. You will then need to print a return label for each tool and package them ready for collection. If you contact us for an exchange before 2pm you'll receive a replacement the next day*, so you have no down timet. If you would like your tools delivered to you at a specific time of day, or at the weekend, we can offer that service for a small charge.

To permanently off-hire any tools, log onto your online account and select the items you would like to return. You will then need to print a returns label for each tool and package them for collection. Collection is free as part of your hire contract. Equipment remains on hire, and therefore chargeable, until it is handed to our courier.

Care of hire Tools

Accidents can happen and if your tools are stolen or damaged you could be responsible for a costly repair or replacement charge. Accidental Damage & Theft Protection is availble for your hire tools and costs just 10% of your monthly hire charge. This service protects you against charges for damage incurred during normal use of your equipemt or the theft of your tools*.

*Wilful damage or neglect as specified by Gyproc Tool Hire is not covered under Accidental Damage and Theft Protection and will be charagable. Please see Terms & Conditions for full details.


When a tool is returned as part of an exchange or end of contract and the tool requires cleaning beyond what would be required for a standard service, this will be charged to your account at a minimum of £25 per tool.

Lost or Stolen Tools

When a tool has been lost or stolen, a charge will be applied to your account which is equal to the current retail value of that tool*.

Damaged Tools

When a tool has been damaged, the cost to fix the tool will be chargeable. If the tool has been damaged beyond economical repair then your account will be charged the full retail price for the tool*.

Sales of Tools & Spare Parts

We have a range of TapeTech and Flex tools, spare parts* and accessories for sale. You can check out as guest when buying tools and spares, however if you open an account then you can benefit from additional features such as multiple address locations for delivery and historical order view

We accept all major credit and debit cards online for the purchase of any "Gyproc Tools" products

*Note that TapeTech spare parts and repair kits are for use on your own tools and are provided with liability of installation solely with the customer.


We offer free next day delivery for any order over £30. For orders under £30 a charge of £3.99, non-recorded, or £4.99, recorded, will apply. Next day delivery is available on orders received before 2pm. See Terms and Conditions for next day postcode exclusions. Note we are currently only able to deliver to the UK.

Returning Unwanted Items

You have the right to cancel and return any items purchased for a full refund, providing they are returned to us within 28 days in their original packaging and in saleable condition. You are responsible for paying any postage or shipping costs incurred when returning any unused and unwanted items. We will refund the purchase price within 14 days of receipt.

Returning Defective Product

Tool Repair Shop

If you would like to book in any of your own tools for repair please call 0115 984 9155

When you book in your tool with us there is a charge of £25, payable upfront, for collection by our courier and full inspection by our tool technicians. When we receive your tool we will advise you of the charge for your repair, this amount is payable before we repair and return your tools. Should you want to go ahead with the repair the £25 collection and inspection fee will be deducted from your total bill, if you don't want us to progress with the repair your tools will be returned to you and the £25 will not be refundable.

Any repair and maintenance of your hire tools is included in your hire price. If you have any problems with your hire tools book in an exchange through your online account.
